Ten Favourite Films

Filed under: movies — michael @ 12:13 am

Peter bought me a dvd player for my birthday and since Classic Video is just around the corner I’ve been renting a lot of films lately. I’m sure there are some good ones I’ve forgotten, but off the top of my head here are my ten favourite movies.

  1. Princess Mononoke
  2. Amélie
  3. Trainspotting
  4. Star Wars
  5. The Incredibles
  6. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
  7. Spirited Away
  8. Fargo
  9. Castle in the Sky
  10. 42 Up

  1. Good choices. I would agree with you on most of these.

  2. I just watched Fargo again the other day. It starts with a screenful of text that says this is based on actual events and the names of the survivors have been changed to protect their identities. In one of the DVD special features William H. Macy says that during the second or third week of filming he asked the directors to tell him about the murders. They said, “What are you talking about? We made the whole thing up.” Macy said, “But you can’t say it’s based on a true story if it didn’t really happen!” And the Coen brothers replied, “You can say whatever you want in a work of fiction.”
