So this weekend was relatively low key as Michael and I both had a bad cold. I am disappointed that it still lingers – oh well.
Banjo was demanding attention from me as I have not been home very much…So I did a few things with him one being to try brushing his teeth. He likes the taste of the paste! Also that Saturday was vintage release so Michael, Christine and I tasted – A few. We stayed up late chatting, playing music and watching Sex in the City.
As for Sunday, it started slowly. However, I convinced Michael to join me and Banjo on the 1000 Island Parkway to get a bit of Christmas spirit attending “A Country Home Christmas Studio Tour“. They decorated their homes (more tastefully than this one), displayed their crafts and offered us coffee or cider and Christmas cookies. I bought a nice bowl (4me) and fridge magnet (4Michael). We even managed to geocache.
Sunday was the best day of this weekend for me. It was an enjoyable afternoon that shed a pleasant light on the thoughts of winter and Christmas. It can be pleasant and fun even if you’re freezing! You can always warm up with humanity, laughter and/or a good meal. Tonight we made a pot of butternut squash soup. Nice and gingery.

I made a web page and posted a message to the kingston.forsale and queens.forsale newsgroups to try to sell my furniture that was in the shed. I have a feeling I am asking for too much money though. I’ve had the desk and the dresser for 25 years, and the table was our kitchen table on Emily Drive. I guess to everybody else it’s just a bunch of beat up old junk.

I baked some beigli tonight as practice for the first annual beigli competition at Grandma’s this Christmas. It turned out okay, but I think I need to work on rolling the loaves better so they don’t leak all over the place. Gina, Joan, and Victor will also be entering the contest. Victor bought his beigli at the store and is keeping it in the freezer!

Banjo’s post:
So I went on a roadtrip last weekend… sat in the car alot and watched a bunch of nothing. But I did get to meet dogs (it was iffy but I think I handled them well) and spend time with my human companions. I also got to enjoy a few smells…but I will just mention the ones humans and I can enjoy: 1) heavenly grease 2) not so sure about this grease. Michael, Celine and I did some geocaching. We also played with SNOWballs and gloves. I had my bed with me at all times, but I am glad to be home now. *yawn*

I took Michael and Banjo to Guelph, Elora and Toronto this weekend. We visited with my university friend, Cheryl in Guelph. She and Dave were so nice to put up with us overnight. I originally wanted to leave Friday night, but work and weather did not allow it. So we did lots of driving approx. 800km in two days. My main focuses of the weekend were to spend time with Cheryl and Dave, enjoy the Guelph area and go to the One of a Kind Shop in Toronto.
Fortunately, we did manage to squeeze in quite a few things in between the car rides… 1) Guelph’s great Saturday morning farmers market with interesting stalls, 2) Elora’s mill, gorge and quarry, 3) Tasty breakfast chez Dave et Cheryl, 4) Guelph site of history and interest, 5) Guelph’s selection of letterboxes and geocaches, 6) Toronto’s One of a Kind Shop and a tasty garlicy meal at John’s Italian Cafe.
I am glad Michael and Banjo are such good sports!

I carved this rubber stamp today. It is a Ceraurus milleri, the same species as the trilobite fossil Celine found on Wolfe Island a couple of months ago. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to go letterboxing in Guelph this weekend so I can use it. We have decided to make it our new “personal stamp.”

Celine’s parents and her uncle Don spent the past couple of days moving the shed to the other side of the yard. Uncle Don did the hard part using his truck, a chain, and a really big pulley. Here are some photos: before, during, after, and wide-angle.

Wow! I managed to get out of work to have dinner at Chez Piggy’s 19:00 ish…. It was a big gathering before Ma and Pa leave for Indonesia on Sunday. They will be gone until the end of January. A good meal of gambas, baby spinach salad, tasty, greasy noodles and wine. Yum! Those attending were: Ma, Pa, Uncle Don, Rheni, Steve, Simon, Evan, Mica, Michael and I.

This past weekend Celine and I spent lots of time outdoors. Saturday we drove up to Westport to do some geocaching on Foley Mountain, and yesterday we went exploring on Wolfe Island and found some interesting rock formations.

I have decided to start a blog. That’s short for “web log.” Apparently, blogging is a huge thing on the internet. You can even buy books at Indigo about how to write a good blog. Scary.
