No, they are smoked jalapeno peppers, usually in a tomato vinegar sauce called “adobo sauce.” (More info here.) These things really wake you up in the morning. Better than coffee!

I like chipotles, but I’ve never had them by themselves, much less for breakfast. You’re braver than I am. They are good in chilis, or other spicy dishes, though. For a while, Wendy’s was even giving out a spicy chipotle sauce that was good on a chicken sandwich.
